… Lancashire

Posted in: Made by hand, Out and About

Last week we took a little trip up the M6 to the lovely town of Lancaster ~ to deliver a freshly stitched batch of baskets to Gallery 23, the exhibition space above the wonderful Arteria, a shop full of gorgeousness if ever there was one!

I was a little anxious ~ never having done anything like this before, and still feeling very much like a learner in the whole ‘making things’ world ~ but I was welcomed so enthusiastically that all my fears fell away (thank you to Sharon). These and other baskets, and a few of my bags are now awaiting the Exhibition launch on Wednesday evening …

… how exciting is that!

Whilst in Lancashire, we took some time to explore and this is what we found …

… a peaceful, mirror-like canal, home to swans, moorhens, ducks, grebes and narrow boats …

… far-reaching views of the mountains of Cumbria from Morcambe …

… the beauty of light over the Lune estuary, fading sunlight, crisp air, the evening call of wading birds, the distant baaing of lambs …

… a sunny afternoon

Posted in: Home Life, News

Sitting in the garden with Tillie by my side, relishing the warmth of the autumn sun, jotting down some new ideas, surrounded by some of my newest fabric finds drying in the sunshine … really, what could be a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

The sunlight was beautiful, playing with the colours of the drying fabrics …

… I am loving these roses, and this beautiful embroidered linen …

… oh, and this gorgeous little bowl of crocuses!

Tillie was particularly happy that I decided to get busy with my camera ~ as she was able to keep my cushion warm for me!

Washday

One day I will get a proper washing line … one day!

It was rather glorious and we sat together there until late afternoon soaking up the final mellow rays of September sun. As I write this on Sunday afternoon, things couldn’t be more different, I have been forced to seek out my winter woollies, the skies are grey and the rain is persisting at my window. I am so happy I made the most of Saturday!

In other news … this little blog will be celebrating later this week, because, can you believe it, we have reached lemon loves first Birthday! Oh yes! One whole year of blogging to celebrate ~ Yee~ha!

I will be posting a special celebratory post on Thursday of this week, and will also be sending out the September Newsletter to subscribers … it will include a little freebie, and a special offer … so if you haven’t signed up for the the newsletter subscription yet … do it now! There is a button up top.

Until then, I will leave you with memories of warm autumn sunshine filtering through the yellowed leaves of the Silver Birch tree. Ah, happy days!

… photographing Tillie!

It is a whole lot of fun trying to capture a beautiful shot of the lovely Tillie. As soon as I get her perfectly lined up in the viewfinder ~ she decides she just wants to be near me …

… sitting right at my feet …

… and facing the other way!

Tillie the cat

Tillie came to live with us recently ~ she is over 18 years old and has settled in beautifully ~ but she isn’t quite used to the camera yet …

Tillie the cat

… so I decided the only solution was to adapt a cat like strategy, and so I settled myself down on my belly on the sunny patio, wriggled around in the late summer warmth, and waited … and Tillie did much the same …

Tillie the cat

… and it worked, she eyed me up a little, got used to the clicking, and proceeded to give herself a wash …

… and with the warmth of the sun, and the energy exerted she drifted off into one of those dozy, wobbly headed, asleep but still keeping my head up kind of moments that contented cats enjoy …

Tillie the cat

… and I think I probably did much the same!

Hoping you found some sunny~dozy moments over the weekend too!
